The Westlake Thunder Girls Varsity Softball Team was victorious over the Granger Lancers on Tuesday by a score of 18-0. The 4 inning game was shortened due to the mercy run-rule. The Thunder were led by Senior Nakyia Butler, Junior Halle Carpenter and Freshman Brooklyn Gramse who each had 3 hits – including 2 Doubles by Carpenter and 1 Double by Gramse. Additionally Sophomores Gentry Ryan and Jerika Fitting and Freshman Sami Flanagan had 2 hits each. Gramse led with 5 Runs Batted In (RBI) and Carpenter had 4 RBI. Carpenter continued her pitching dominance with 0 runs given up in the 2 hit shutout. Her 6 Strike Outs currently puts her 2nd in the State with 47 K’s while leading the State in Wins (6) and being 4th in ERA at 1.25 ERA. Freshman Brooke Gramse is also having quite the nice start – she leads the State in Runs Scored with 11.
