Thunder News · Boys Lacrosse Making History

The boys lacrosse team has wrapped up their first week of games and in the process they made a little bit of important history in the process.

On Tuesday, we hosted the Lehi Pioneers and both JV and Varsity took care of business, winning both of those games.  JV won 17-2 and Varsity won 22-6.  Great wins for the boys and Westlake!  Zack Allen made a big statement with his offensive performance with 6 goals and 1 assist, leading all scorers.

Tonight, we made history by beating East for the first time in Westlake Lacrosse history.  JV played first and won their game 7-0, with Josh Walker leading the way with 4 goals and newcomer Carter English stepping in at defense and putting a stop to the East Leopards offensive fronts.  Following the JV victory, it was up to the Varsity team to come in and do another first:  Beat the East Leopards at the Varsity level.  At half time, the score was tight, 5-3 Westlake.  In the third quarter, Westlakes offense opened up in a BIG WAY and had a shutout quarter, taking the game to 12-5 by the end of the quarter.  The final score ended up 14-6, Westlake.  Hunter Hernandez stands out in a big way in this game coming in with 6 goals and 3 assists, leading all players!

This is a phenomenal start to our season.  We are grateful for our amazing fans and supporters as we set out to have an incredible, historical season.  Our theme for our season is to “HOLD THE LINE” and the boys are doing just that.  If you haven’t watched them play…you’re missing out.  Our next game is next Thursday @ Westlake vs a top 5 program in the State:  Olympus.  You won’t want to miss it!
