Multiple Teams · Cross Country has Solid Showing at Grass Relays

Last Saturday, Westlake Cross Country hosted the annual Grass Relays race with great results.

Teams around Utah came and competed in one of the most unique Cross Country races of the season. Runners ran 2 laps around the 1-mile course – jumping hay bales along the way – while competing against each other and the clock for the Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Varsity races.

One of the most unique features of the event came during the Varsity race, each runner on the 5-person team ran their 2 laps but this time as a relay handing the baton off to their awaiting teammate. All in all, each team ran 10 miles total.

The host team had solid showings in both races. The Boys Varsity team finished 5th with anchor runner, Michael Moffat, edging out Herriman runner Evan Harris by .5 seconds. The Girls Varsity team finished 2nd and had some of the fastest runners of the day including Kanza Allen and Emma Heslop.
